A Bernalier or Mini Bernese Mountain Dog is a mix between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel.
The Bernalier is a small but mighty breed of dog. These dogs, which typically weigh between 20-40 pounds and are about 16-22 inches tall, have all the best qualities of their larger counterparts, the Bernese Mountain Dog. They are affectionate, loyal and intelligent, making them an ideal companion animal for those looking for a family pet.
Bernaliers’ coats come in black with rust or tan markings and white trimmings on the chest and feet. Their double coat helps to protect against weather extremes—both hot and cold. Although they do shed year-round, compared with the Bernese Mountain Dog, they do not actually shed much. In addition to being low shedding, they have minimal odour and drool less than other breeds.
Mini Bernese are loyal, loving companions that form strong bonds with their owners. They are eager to please, which makes them easy to train. Additionally, they are highly intelligent. Therefore, obedience training should come relatively quickly and easily. Plus, they love a good adventure! Whether it’s going for long walks or just lounging around the house, these dogs will be content in any situation.
If you’re looking for a devoted, intelligent and loving companion, then the Bernalier may be the dog for you. With its long coat, friendly demeanor and easy-to-train nature, it is no wonder why this breed is so popular! So whether your family is seeking a hiking buddy or just some extra cuddle time indoors, the Mini Bernese will surely fit the bill.
When you’re ready to add a Bernalier to your family, be sure to do your research. Speak with breeders who can provide information about the parent dogs’ health and temperament, as well as any genetic tests that have been done. Spend time getting to know the puppy before taking them home in order to determine if they will be a good fit for your family. Additionally, make sure you are thoroughly prepared before bringing them home by having all necessary supplies on hand such as food, treats, bedding and toys.
By spending some time researching Mini Bernese and speaking with professionals who know the breed, you’ll be able to make the best decision for your family when it comes to choosing your new four-legged friend. Good luck on your journey to finding the perfect Mini Bernese pup for your family!
Finally, socializing your Bernalier is important in order for them to become a well-rounded pup. This can be done by providing lots of positive interactions with people and other dogs, as well as exposing them to new environments and experiences. With the right environment and training, your Mini Bernese will grow up to be a loyal, loving, and intelligent companion!
As far as expected lifespan goes, these pups typically live 10-12 years if given proper care and nutrition. We do offer a health guarantee for up to 3 years.
It is important to speak with your veterinarian in order to ensure your pup is receiving all of the necessary care and nutrition. With proper care, training and love, these pups make a wonderful addition to any family!

Hybrid vigor greatly helps the overall health and quality of life of a Bernalier compared to that of a Bernese Mountain Dog or Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Healthier dogs also tend to live longer.
There are several reasons why a Mini Bernese Mountain Dog, also known as a Bernalier, might be the perfect companion for you. Here are some of the top advantages of choosing a Mini Bernese Mountain Dog over a purebred Bernese Mountain Dog:
While purebred Bernese Mountain Dogs are truly wonderful dogs, Mini Bernese Mountain Dogs offer many advantages that make them an equally great choice for those looking for a loving and loyal companion. Consider all the factors mentioned above before making your decision and remember, no matter which one you choose, both breeds will bring endless joy and love into your life. So if you’re looking for a smaller, healthier, more energetic version of a Bernese Mountain Dog with a unique appearance, then a Mini Bernese Mountain Dog is the perfect choice for you!
The mixing of various dog breeds to form hybrids has been going on for hundreds of years. But it wasn’t until the 1990s, with the revolution of the Goldendoodle, that hybrids, also known as designer dogs, began to grow in popularity.
Poodle hybrids, or doodles, became popular because they combine the hypoallergenic qualities of a Poodle’s coat with the personality of whatever breed you choose to mix with a Poodle. However, looks and reduced allergies aren’t the only reasons that hybrids continue to gain popularity.
For years people desired purebred dogs with impressive pedigrees, but those pedigrees came at a devastating price: inbreeding. In order to keep bloodlines pure and to achieve the certain distinct look that each breed has, breeders resort to breeding dogs that are related. Inbreeding results in a loss of genetic diversity, which leads to increased health issues and higher susceptibility to sickness.
Take the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, for example. The classic Cavalier look comes with a short snout, round head, and large round eyes. The short snout and round head come with some huge drawbacks, however. Cavaliers are also known for their health issues like heart murmurs and Chiari-like malformations, which make their skulls too small for their brains and lead to many neurological problems. So, although Cavaliers are very cute, sometimes they live short and sadly painful lives simply because people want Cavaliers to look a certain way.
A hybrid takes two completely different genetic codes, that of, say, a golden retriever and a poodle, and mixes them together, increasing genetic diversity within the offspring of these two breeds. Hybrids result in stronger, healthier dogs that live longer. Better health of these hybrids is not only good for the dog itself, but also good for their owners. Healthier dogs means less vet bills and more years with your favorite companion.
Some dog owners still desire a purebred dog solely because they prefer the way a specific breed looks. But many dog parents are choosing to add hybrid fur babies to their homes because instead of searching for a distinct look, they wish for a healthier companion. After all, the healthier the dog, the longer your pooch will be around to fill your life with joy and plenty of puppy snuggles.
