After owning a purebred dog with many health issues, Nathan Crockett and his wife Abigail desired a healthier dog as well as one that shed less. They spent a long time researching breeders before finally settling on a dog. The prevalence of puppy mills and poorly educated backyard breeders made it quite difficult for the Crocketts to find the right place to purchase their puppy from.
In 2011, Nathan decided to be the kind of breeder that he had been trying so hard to find. He wanted to offer high-quality, family-raised pups for a reasonable price. Part of that goal was also to have pups that had been lovingly socialized and cared for by a top-notch vet. Most importantly, Nathan wanted to offer families peace of mind that their puppies had come from directly within the home, raised with love and comfort. That was the beginning of Crockett Doodles.
For nearly a dozen years, Crockett Doodles has tried to exceed customer expectations. Hundreds of five-star reviews, celebrity clients, and an incredible rate of returning customers testify to the top-quality work done by the Crockett Doodles network of dozens of caring guardian homes.
For the past several years, Crockett Doodles has been asked if they would ever expand to breed something other than Doodles. Nathan first desired to breed Doodles for two reasons, Doodles are hypoallergenic and have hybrid vigor. But not every family wants a hypoallergenic dog. In fact, some families dislike the curly coat of the Doodle or desire a specific look that the Doodle breed cannot achieve. So Nathan decided to apply the “secret sauce” of Crockett Doodles to other hybrids.
Crockett Doodles’ “secret sauce” includes several factors:
We have decided to launch Crockett Pups and, as a sister network to Crockett Doodles, Bernalier Pups. Bernalier Pups will take everything that makes Crockett Doodles as successful as it has become and apply it to other outstanding hybrid dogs. That way, the resources of the Crockett Doodles network are no longer limited to just Doodles. Forever families looking for the perfect puppy for their home now have more excellent breed options from which to choose.
The fifth breed we’ve introduced into the Crockett Pups network is the Bernalier or Mini Bernese. The look of the Bernalier is certainly not a look that you can replicate if mixed with a poodle. We chose this breed for a number of reasons. And, of course, we believe that the Mini Bernese Mountain Dog offers significant health advantages – as a hybrid – over both the purebred Bernese Mountain Dog and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
Crockett Pups looks forward to continuing to provide healthy outstanding pups to their forever families, starting with the adorably striking Mini Bernese Mountain Dog breed.
Bernalier Pups is a partnership of families based in Greenville, SC. Working alongside the Crockett Pups network, we believe in family-raised, top-quality puppies.
